House, Barn & Shop Pad Construction

A pad that is set high enough, packed tight enough, and drains the right direction — so the slab your builder pours sits on ground that will not move.

The pad is the cheapest part of a build and the most expensive one to get wrong. We cut, fill, compact and shape the pad so it sits above the surrounding grade, sheds water away from the structure, and gives the concrete crew a clean, square, true surface to work off of.

Bring us your builder's elevation and footprint and we will build to it. If you do not have one yet, we will walk the site with you and pick the spot that drains best, takes the least dirt, and still gives you the view you bought the place for.

What is included

  • House pads, barndominium and shop pads
  • Barn, arena and equipment shed pads
  • RV pads and cabin sites
  • Cut-and-fill, hauled-in select fill, and compaction in lifts
  • Pad set above grade and sloped to drain
  • Building corners staked and pad squared to the footprint

What drives the price

  • Pad size and how high it has to sit above natural grade
  • How much dirt is available on site versus what has to be hauled in
  • Rock — Palo Pinto County limestone can turn a cut into a rip job
  • Haul distance for select fill
  • Access for belly dumps and heavy equipment

House & Barn Pads — questions we get

How far ahead of my builder should the pad go in?

Give the pad time to settle and take a rain if you can — a couple of weeks is plenty on most sites. We will coordinate directly with your builder on elevation and timing.

Do you haul in fill dirt?

Yes. If the site does not have enough usable material, we haul in select fill and build it up in compacted lifts rather than dumping it and shaping the top.
