Grinding a stump leaves the roots in the ground and a hole that keeps settling. Pulling it takes the root ball with it — which is what you want if that ground is going under a pad, a driveway, a fence line, or a mower.
We root-rake the area afterward so the sticks and roots come to the surface and leave, instead of turning up under a tire two years from now.

Grinding or pulling — which do I want?
If nothing is going on top of that ground and you just want the stump out of sight, grinding is fine. If it is going under a pad, a drive, or a mower, pull it.

Yes. Holes are backfilled and packed so the ground does not sink after the first few rains.
